Famitsu Hong Kong Translations:
These picks from the famitsu hong kong translations highlight a great system – we cant wait for ffxiii to get to the uk and we can get our hands on the game.
XIII’s game play system still uses the multiple command system and the time gauge bar just like the ATB. However, the difference between this system and the ATB gauge is that commands can still be placed in the slots even though the bar has run out and the actions will be executed once the required slots are filled up. This however will affect the chain combo hits as the combo has been interrupted.
In the victory screen in XIII, the only things you see are the highest number of combos executed, the number of breaks and the quality of battle which is determined by the number of stars. The breaks refer to the times when an enemy enters a state of non-retaliation. This occurs when a chain combo has been maintained for a certain period of time on an enemy. When a high level combo has been achieved, the enemy will glow red and enter a break state. At that point the player will be able to execute the highest amount of damage to the target. However at that point, the chain bar will deplete slowly and when it is empty the break state becomes invalid
One other bar that needs mentioning is the Bonus bar.. It seems that this bar is only triggered during a break state, at which time a numerical value will be displayed to indicate the percentage at which the damage level has been increased. It is likely this number may increase with a longer combo.
A special command in the system is called Launch. This is used to toss enemies into the air and allows the character to perform mid-air combos on the opponent. This attack is useful when dealing huge amounts of damage to a target, especially when the target is in a break state. However it may be difficult to use this command on larger enemies.
Snow is a fighter class character. In other words he uses his fists to take down opponents. Compared to the fast and agile Lightning, Snow focuses more on power and strength. What may surprise some is that Snow specializes in ice-magic, since he is a hot blooded character.
Other members of Nora?
Just as stated in the interview with Nomura, there are a total of 5 members to Nora (excluding those spread around the world). The first 4 have already been revealed, but the 5th member’s name and background have not yet been revealed, as this does not occur during the demo. Also, although Maqui will make an appearance in the demo, he will not be assisting in battle.
Lebreau and Gadot in battle
Despite her small stature, Lebreau uses an over-sized rifle in combat. Although she can’t perform continuous attacks, one shot from her rifle can deal significant damage. Not only that, she also acts as the healer for the team.
Gadot
Although Gadot has a pretty huge stature, what may shock people is that he uses a pistol in combat. Although not as strong as a machine gun, it is compensated by its accuracy and can fire more shots easily, providing powerful assists when it comes to executing combos.
